MBA students visited SCGP for a business study tour focusing on sustainability.
On June 28–29, MBA students from Chulalongkorn University visited Siam Kraft Industry Co., Ltd. (SCGP) in Ban Pong, Ratchaburi Province.
This trip was organized as part of the course “Business Ethics and Shared Value Creation,” with the goal of providing students with practical insights into sustainable business practices. During their visit to the factory, students attended a lecture on SCGP’s business operations and learned about Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management approaches, which are essential for sustainable development. They also observed the paper production process using the PM16 machine and visited the Thermal Recycling Plant, which efficiently utilizes heat generated during waste disposal to produce energy, showcasing effective resource management.
In the afternoon, students explored various sustainable initiatives within the local community, including a prototype house for reuse, a prototype house for recycling, local innovations, and a career promotion activity for paper band weaving artisans, as well as community shops. The trip concluded with a visit to the Eco Forest and a plant genetic conservation area, further illustrating the importance of creating value for both the environment and the local community.
This study trip aimed to provide MBA students with new perspectives on the role of business in sustainability and creating shared values, also inspiring ideas for future applications in their business.
